Monaco takes part in the 42nd session of the General Conference of UNESCO
Ms. Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, accompanied by H.E. Ms Anne-Marie Boisbouvier, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, took part in the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which is currently underway in Paris until 22 November 2023.
During her speech, Ms Berro-Amadeï recalled the commitment of the Principality of Monaco to multilateralism and welcomed the return of the United States to the Organization, which now had 194 Member States.
Monaco’s contributions to UNESCO programmes in education, culture and oceanography along with other fields of science, were particularly visible for this biennium, through its support for the heritage emergency fund and measures implemented in Ukraine. The latter were hailed by the first lady of Ukraine, Ms Olena Zelenska, who attended this Conference.
During the Conference, Monaco co-authored an item on the agenda: “Olympic and paralympic movements as the catalyst of UNESCO values through sport, education and development”.
The General Conference meets every two years and is the decision-making body of UNESCO. Monaco will celebrate 75 years of membership in UNESCO in 2024.
