Results of the European Awards for the European Week for Waste Reduction
On 1 June, as a member of the Steering Committee, the Department of the Environment attended the annual European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) Awards ceremony, which honours the most outstanding awareness-raising initiatives implemented in November 2022 on the theme of waste prevention in the fashion sector.
During this celebration, Monaco was proud to count among the 15 finalists of this edition (out of 16,000 actions throughout Europe) the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco for its event "Sustainable Fashion Challenge at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco" organised by Inessa Creations Monaco and numerous partners, on 24 November 2022.
MOM also welcomed five classes of teenagers who competed in various events on the theme of textiles and responsible fashion. The activities showcased local designers committed to the environment, promoting the reuse of materials, short circuit distribution and recycling, and awakened these young consumers to the environmental issues raised by the textile sector. The idea was to turn them into "green influencers"!
During the day, an anti-waste lunch was organised by chefs from Monaco's prestigious establishments, featuring "Ma Consigne! " and an ephemeral zero-waste barista area.
