Monaco under the protection of Piedmont-Sardinia

Second treaty of Paris

After the fall of the Empire, the second treaty of Paris (20 November 1815) replaced the protection of the king of France for the protection of the king of Piedmont-Sardinia.

Treaty of Stupinigi

Following fierce negotiation, the treaty which was signed in Stupinigi on 8 November 1817 limited the sovereignty of the Prince of Monaco and transformed the protection of Piedmont into a real protectorate.
