Memorandum of understanding signed by the Secretariats of the RAMOGE and Pelagos agreements
On Friday 22 March 2024 at the close of Monaco Ocean Week, the Secretariats of the RAMOGE Agreement and the Pelagos Agreement officially concluded a memorandum of understanding. These two Cooperation Agreements between France, Monaco and Italy to preserve the Mediterranean Sea were represented by Mr Florent Champion, Executive Secretary of the RAMOGE Agreement, and Ms Viola Cattani, Deputy Secretary of the Pelagos Agreement.
The ceremony took place in the large conference room of the Oceanographic Museum in the presence of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Ambassadors of France and Italy to Monaco, H.E. Mr Jean D’Haussonville and H.E. Mr Giulio Alaimo.
The memorandum seeks to establish the terms of active cooperation between the two Agreements. It will facilitate cooperation and information sharing and promote joint activities aimed at preserving marine mammals and their habitats. The first joint initiative will be to organise a workshop in autumn 2024 to raise awareness about sea waste – a major threat to biodiversity.
