Monaco Takes New York
To mark the visit to New York of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Monaco’s Consulate General and the New York Office of the Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority, in collaboration with the Embassy of Monaco to the United States, organised a series of events to highlight Monegasque culture and gastronomy, titled “Monaco Takes New York”.
As a complement to the performances of Cinderella at the New York City Center, the company’s official photographer, Alice Blangero, presented INSIDE, an exhibition of around twenty of her black-and-white photographs which immerse viewers into the world of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. The exhibition was held at Christie’s from 17 to 21 February.
Just a few steps from the theatre where the ballet company was performing, the famous restaurants Le Cirque and Circo presented Flavors of Monaco: a week-long culinary event from 15 to 20 February featuring Paolo Sari, Executive Chef of the Monte-Carlo Beach whose restaurant Elsa is the first and only 100%-organic establishment to hold a Michelin star. Nearly 400 Monegasque meals, including Sari specialities such as Bio Sama and Soufflé Elsa, were served over the course of the week.
At a press conference on 17 February, around thirty journalists gathered at Christie’s to listen to Jean-Christophe Maillot, Alice Blangero and Paolo Sari – a talented trio from the Principality representing the three aspects of “Monaco Takes New York”: performing arts, visual arts and gastronomy.
