Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority and its partners, the SBM and the Hôtel Métropole, carried out a promotional campaign from 22 to 26 February 2016 in three cities in Mexico - Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara.

The trip was motivated by good results for Mexican tourism in the Principality (hotel nights for Mexican tourists have more than doubled in five years) and the economic dynamism that Mexico is currently experiencing.  The visit was headed by Guillaume Rose, Director of the Tourist and Convention Authority, accompanied, among others, by Jésus Scott, Senior Sales Manager for the Hôtel Métropole and Massimo Michelis, International Marketing Manager for the Casinos de Monte-Carlo.  The Monegasque delegation, in association with the organisation Atout France, had the opportunity to canvas high-end travel specialists, VIP clients and the lifestyle and general press of Mexico's three main cities.

The highlights of this tour were:

 - In Mexico, at American Express Centurion, a training seminar on the Principality was held for Mexican accounts managers who represent clients with high potential.  They also had the opportunity to network with the DTC's partners, with a view to proposing "Destination Monaco" to this clientele.  The seminar was led by Laurence Aquilina, who is responsible for this market at the DTC's marketing department.

An evening event for tourism professionals specialising in high-end travel was held in one of the city's most beautiful hotels.

In this same city, the representative of the Casinos de Monte-Carlo undertook several promotional activities to attract new clients and encourage customer loyalty in the world of gaming.

 - Numerous meetings with the press were held in these three cities, culminating in interviews with Guillaume Rose on several radio stations and in daily newspapers, demonstrating the great interest shown in the Principality by the Mexican media.

A lifestyle press lunch was held for the four most prestigious publications for arbiters of good taste - Forbes, Travesias, Harper's Bazaar and Robb Report.  It was an opportunity to discuss future press trips to the Principality to encourage further communication on the subject of Monaco in Mexico.

 - At a dinner held in a leading French restaurant, the delegation presented "Destination Monaco" to forty or so VIP clients from Monterrey, the second wealthiest city in Mexico with a GDP of $130 billion in 2012.

 - Finally, the last promotional day was held in Guadalajara on 25 February for agencies and the specialist media.  It was an opportunity for speakers from the delegation to present Monaco as a haven of luxury for Mexicans wishing to travel to Europe.

During this trip, Guillaume Rose also met heads of the Turquois Foundation in Mexico.  The Foundation was initiated by Raymond Turquois and is currently presided over in Monaco by René Clérissi, who over the years has built up a large network in Latin America of connoisseurs of the Principality, representing another opportunity to promote Monaco.  At this meeting, in the presence of the Consul of Monaco in Mexico, Adolfo Autrey, the DTC reiterated its support for the Foundation, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2017.  During these 25 years, the Foundation has enabled many deserving students to undertake work placements in Monaco in the field of tourism, and has also enabled talented young musicians to gain experience in the Principality.
