The new insignia of the Monaco Fire and Emergency Service, chosen and officially presented by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince at the celebration of Saint Barbara on 4 December 2022, was solemnly handed over to the soldiers on 19 May 2025. The ceremony was held in the courtyard of the La Condamine Emergency Response Centre under the authority of Chief Officer Lieutenant-Colonel Maxime Yvrard.

No insignia existed when the service was founded in 1909 by Prince Albert I. The first insignia appeared on the occasion of Prince Rainier III’s coronation in 1949. A Sovereign Decision in 1958 introduced a second insignia, still in force until now. While designed for the Monaco Fire and Emergency Service, this second insignia differed little from the one used by French fire services.

On the occasion of commemorative events for the centenary of the death of Prince Albert I in 2022, the Monaco Service seized that symbolic opportunity to update its insignia. The initiative was aimed at reaffirming the Service’s historical roots and identity by endowing its members with a distinctive and meaningful emblem.

The new insignia reflects a centuries-old heritage and embodies the unwavering commitment of the Monaco Fire and Emergency Service to the Principality and its values.
