A New Monegasque Passport that is More Secure and More Modern

©Direction de la Communication

From 1 March 2021, a new system for producing Monegasque passports will be put into operation by the General Secretariat of the Government.  This new system will be accompanied by the issuing of new booklets, with modernised visuals and increased security.

The functionalities of the passports remain unchanged.  The mode of issue also remains the same and can be consulted at the following address:

From now on, the period of validity of an ordinary passport for adults will be extended to 10 years for a set fee of 90 euros.  The period of validity of passports is therefore doubled, while the fee is only increased by 50%.

There is no change for persons under 18 years of age:

-             a period of validity of 3 years, with a fee of 30 euros, for those under 3 years of age;

-             a period of validity of 5 years, with a fee of 60 euros, for those under 18 years of age.

Applicants' attention is drawn to the need to follow the instructions for completing this document exactly.  Thus, it is essential that the photograph provided conforms to the specifications;  this is essential in order to comply with the relevant international standards and facilitate unhindered crossing at borders.

Passports that are currently valid will remain so until their expiry date.

Due to the implementation of the new system, it will not be possible to process passport applications between 22 and 26 February inclusive, except in urgent and exceptional circumstances.

All passport applications made on or after 1 March 2021 must be submitted using the new forms, which will be made available on line one week before that date.

For any questions, please contact the Passport Office, General Secretariat of the Government by telephone on 98 98 82 18 or by e-mail at sgg@gouv.mc .
