Annual reception at the Embassy of Monaco in Spain
On 10 July 2018, Monaco’s Embassy in Spain held a reception to celebrate the anniversary of H.S.H. Prince Albert II’s accession in the cordial atmosphere of the gardens of the residence in La Moraleja (Alcobendas).
The event was attended by nearly 300 people and the theme for the evening was “Monaco and the Sea”. The garden was decorated with sculptures by artist Pepe Monserrate for the occasion and videos showcasing the activities of the Principality, the Prince Albert II Foundation and the Institute of Oceanography were shown.
Among those attending the reception were numerous ambassadors accredited to Spain (representing China, Hungary, Tunisia, South Africa, Luxembourg, Thailand, Indonesia, Serbia, Ukraine, the Arab League, Lebanon, the Netherlands, etc.) and representatives of diplomatic missions (from the USA, Italy, Algeria, Switzerland, Afghanistan, Morocco, Iraq, etc.), as well as officials from the Spanish Royal Guard (including Colonel-in-Chief Eduardo Diz Monje), the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the World Tourism Organization.
In addition to Monaco’s consuls in Spain, Ms Danièle Biancheri, Monaco’s Consul General in Santiago de Chile, was also in attendance.
In his speech H.E. Mr Jean-Luc Van Klaveren emphasised the involvement of all stakeholders, both public and private, in protecting the seas and oceans.
On the morning after the reception, a working meeting for Monaco’s consuls in Spain was held at the residence, followed by a lunch to which spouses were also invited.
