The Ballets de Monte-Carlo in the Netherlands
At the invitation of Jiří Kylián and the Holland Dance Festival, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo performed in The Hague on 12 and 13 October to pay tribute to the 70th birthday of choreographer Jiří Kylián , as part of "Celebrating Kylian!"
The dancers' performances of "Bella Figura," "Gods and Dogs" and "Chapeau" were given a standing ovation by a delighted audience, in a packed theatre.
To mark this occasion, on 13 October, H.E. Mrs Sophie Thevenoux, Ambassador of Monaco to the Netherlands, accompanied by diplomats from the Embassy, invited Dutch personalities, including H. E. Mr. Versteeg, Grand Master of the Royal Household of His Majesty the King and Mrs. Bergsma, Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, as well as representatives of the Monegasque consular corps to the Netherlands, Mr. van Iersel, Consul General of Monaco in the Hague and Mr. Krooswijk, Consul of Monaco in Amsterdam.
A reception organised by the Embassy was held after the performance, attended by Jean‑Christophe Maillot, Jiří Kylián and the dancers of the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo, in a relaxed atmosphere that was conducive to chatting to the artists.
