A Monegasque delegation led by H.E. Mrs Carole Lanteri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Monaco to the United Nations in Geneva, took part in the 154th session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Executive Board from 22 to 27 January 2024.

The Executive Board had a very full agenda to cover during this session. A wide range of issues were addressed, including health emergencies, non-communicable diseases and neglected tropical diseases. Financial and budgetary issues relating to WHO's new investment cycle and its 14th General Programme of Work also formed a significant part of this session's discussions.

The Principality has often outlined its priorities regarding global health, particularly concerning the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, the links between climate change and health, and the eradication and transition planning for polio.

Despite not being a member of the Executive Board, Monaco, as a member of the WHO since 1948, fully contributes to its work and regularly states its position on strategic directions by supporting the drafting and adoption of the decisions made by WHO's governing bodies.
