World Environment Day : Join us on 5 June 2024 at Larvotto beach!

To mark World Environment Day on 5 June, the Principality of Monaco is organising a series of awareness-raising initiatives aimed at protecting our land and oceans.

Held each year on 5 June, this United Nations initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage action to protect our environment.

The Société Monégasque d'Assainissement (SMA), the Department of the Environment, the Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed) Association of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (FPA2), the Monegasque Association for the Protection of Nature (AMPN), and the Secretariats of the Pelagos and Ramoge Agreements are delighted to be able to share this day with you on the Esplanade du Larvotto for the following events.

The programme for Wednesday, 5 June

9am - 10.30am: Litter picking

The day kicks off with a litter-picking session at 9am. Two teams will be working in tandem: one at sea and the other on land.

10.45am - 11.30am: Waste sorting

Once the litter picking has finished, there will be a waste sorting session at 10.45am. This session is expected to last around 45 minutes and will provide a deeper insight into the types of waste gathered.

From 2pm, various events and workshops will take place on the Esplanade du Larvotto, including a host of stands set up by our partners, an Escape Game workshop, a Waste Fresco workshop, and a Game of the Goose workshop for children.

The workshops will finish at 5pm.

The Secretariats of the Pelagos and Ramoge Agreements will be seizing this opportunity to organise the signing of the RAMOGE Charter of Commitments for the Posidonia Alliance, an initiative that encourages all marine stakeholders to commit to conserving Posidonia meadows.

Join us on 5 June for a day packed with activities dedicated to protecting our environment!
