On Friday 18 October, the Second Committee of the United Nations General Assembly held a meeting on the subject of "Information and Communications Technologies for Sustainable Development."

At this meeting, Jean-Laurent Imbert, First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Monaco to the United Nations, presented the Government's strategy and activities with regard to digital transition, highlighting the Principality's major advances in this field.

The diplomat gave a presentation on the latest innovations to be implemented by the Prince's Government and announced the next structural steps of the "Extended Monaco" programme, emphasising that, "Whether it relates to the Smart City, the blockchain, e-health or e‑education, digital technology affects many areas.  The growing importance of this sector, which is both a creator of wealth and a vector for innovation, will help us achieve our sustainable development goals, and will also improve the quality of life."

In addition, he gave an overview of how the Monegasque public service will look in the coming years, with the future use of the digital safe, a digital identity and the development of e‑administration.
