Jérôme Journet is new Director of Civil Aviation

Jérôme Journet, an engineer who graduated from the Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC, French National School of Civil Aviation), was recently appointed to lead the Civil Aviation Authority following the retirement of Bruno Lassagne.

After completing his engineering studies, primarily in Toulouse and Canada, Jérôme Journet spent more than a decade working in the Paris region for local airports, at Roissy Charles de Gaulle and at the Athis-Mons regional control centre.

During this time, he had the opportunity to learn about the various aspects of civil aviation, working in operations and air traffic control, but also getting involved in European study and research projects.

In 2011, Jérôme Journet was assigned to the Operations Department of the Direction des Services de la Navigation Aérienne (DSNA, French Air Navigation Service) to take on a national coordination role. This experience allowed him to gain an understanding of budget management and civil engineering projects.   

Jérôme Journet then left the Paris region for Bordeaux-Mérignac, where he led the Centre d’Exploitation des Systèmes Centraux (CESNAC, French Central Air Navigation Systems Operations Centre). In 2016, he moved to the Antilles to head up the Antilles-Guyane air navigation service. He was responsible for air traffic control, aeronautical information and air search and rescue operations for the airspaces and airports of Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana.
