A new police station in the Jardin Exotique was inaugurated today by Ms Charlotte Casiraghi, the patron of the Police Department, in the presence of Mr Lionel Beffre, Minister of the Interior, who represented H.E. Ms acting Minister of State, Mr Eric Arella, Police Commissioner, and of Mr Patrice Cellario, former Minister of the Interior.

Before Ms Casiraghi took the floor, Mr Arella recalled the strategic and security-related considerations of the project, stressing its importance for the Principality: “This project is the response to a strong desire to enhance the presence of the Monegasque Police at the borders of Monaco. The new police station in the Jardin Exotique is complementary to the border-adjacent station already in operation in the Saint-Roman district in the east of the Principality and acts as a counterpart in the western sector”.

Father Julien Gollino, the Police Chaplain, blessed the station and recited the police officer’s prayer. The ceremony ended with the unveiling of an inaugural plaque by the patron of the Police Department.

The new 125 square-metre station includes a reception area, offices, a rest area, technical rooms and two cells.

With this new inauguration, the Monaco Police Department now operates 14 stations in Monaco, thus strengthening the dense security network in place.
