Following the meeting of Heads of the National Central Bureau (NCB) in Lyon last April, 250 police officers met in Prague for the 44th INTERPOL Regional Conference, which took place from 18 to 20 May.

The issues discussed included:

-          The changing situation of global security and its implications for Europe;

-          Challenges in combating terrorism, with feedback from the Belgian, Russian and Israeli police;

-          Combating threats arising from the Internet and INTERPOL's strategy on cybercrime.

As topical issues are central to the concerns of the international police, various recommendations were adopted, including strengthening security procedures at borders and coordinating the actions of member countries.

Combating terrorist organisations and their foreign fighters was also discussed at length – INTERPOL stressed the need for effective cooperation based on the exchange of information, the use of the Notice system and the transmission of biometric data, enabling fighters to be identified.

At this regional conference, the President of the Czech Police, Major General Tomas Tuhy, was congratulated by Mr. Richard Marangoni, Director of the Police Department and Head of Monaco NCB, on the efficient organisation of this meeting, and recalled good memories of the 83rd General Assembly in Monaco in 2014.
