Monaco to host La Vuelta 26 official route presentation on Wednesday 17 December 2025
The route that will be taken by riders competing in La Vuelta 26 will be officially announced at a ceremony to be held at the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club on Wednesday 17 December 2025, from 6 pm.
Usually held in Madrid, this year sees the ceremony move to Monaco, in recognition of the fact that the next La Vuelta will begin there on Saturday 22 August 2026, with a 9.6 km individual time trial through the streets of the Principality.
The second stage of the race will start from the square outside the Prince’s Palace a day later, on Sunday 23 August 2026, with the peloton setting off for France.
The ceremony unveiling the exact route will be televised by Spanish broadcaster RTVE and shown in 160 countries worldwide. French-speakers can follow the event on Eurosport.
H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Javier Guillén, Director of La Vuelta, will both be in attendance at the 80-minute bilingual French and Spanish presentation, which will include musical and artistic performances and will be hosted by Marc Chavet, a voice familiar to cycling fans.
Having been the venue for the start of the Giro d'Italia in 1966 and the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2009, Monaco will next summer become the only city in the world to have hosted the start of all three Grand Tours.
