Monaco signs Council of Europe Convention establishing an International Claims Commission for Ukraine
On 16 December, H.E. Gabriel Revel, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, took part in the diplomatic conference organised in The Hague by the Council of Europe and the Kingdom of the Netherlands to mark the opening for signature of the Convention establishing an International Claims Commission for Ukraine.
Signed by 34 countries and the European Union, the Convention, adopted within the framework of the Council of Europe, seeks to create a Commission responsible for reviewing claims for compensation associated with damage resulting from the Russian’s Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine. It follows on from the Register of Damage for Ukraine, created in 2023, of which the Principality is a member.
By signing the Convention, Monaco is confirming its commitment to international responsibility, respect for international law and the implementation of multilateral mechanisms intended to organise, within an appropriate legal framework, the review of claims for compensation.
