The 840 students of Lycée Albert Ier, who were previously attending classes at Annonciade, resumed lessons via remote learning on Monday, 5 January 2026.

As from 12 January, the Government will give priority to a gradual return to in-person teaching, in particular for examination classes and technical courses, notably laboratory-based teaching.

The new teaching sites will be fully operational as from 26 January 2026.

Most of the facilities brought into service will be located around Promenade Honoré II, with the available classrooms at Collège Charles III and Lycée Rainier III also being fully utilised.

With immediate effect, students who so wish — in particular Year 10 students (Seconde) — may benefit from a reception and study space at Collège Charles III, enabling them to exchange and follow remote learning, pending the gradual resumption of in-person classes (under arrangements communicated directly to teachers and students).

Furthermore, in order to free up teaching slots for these upper-secondary students at Lycée Rainier III, higher-education classes will be relocated as from 12 January to classrooms at ISM in the “Ruscino” building, located on Quai Antoine Ier. These premises will also host essential non-teaching facilities for upper-secondary students, including guidance counsellors, psychologists, a social worker, the library and parent reception areas.

At the same time, reinforcement works on the retaining wall of the former Collège Rainier III are continuing: three additional ground anchors are now fully operational, and the data available to the Government show pressure levels well below alert thresholds.

Further works will nevertheless be required and are incompatible with the schooling of upper-secondary students. By contrast, the sports and community facilities housed in the former Technical High School building will be accessible again as from Wednesday, 7 January, as will access to the Annonciade public car park.
