Minister of Health and Social Affairs Didier Gamerdinger opened the 5th e-HealthWorld Monaco congress this morning. Organised by health professionals, this extremely high-level event is devoted to connected healthcare and the medicine of tomorrow, an important topic for public authorities working to develop digital healthcare in the Principality. “This event has quickly established itself as a leading discussion forum for the important topic of digital healthcare,” explained Didier Gamerdinger.

In a world where the use of digital technology is growing in all sectors, and particularly in healthcare, the Minister was keen to emphasise that “we must evolve and remain in step with the most positive developments in this area. We want to be decisive in our approach, because we have no doubt that this is where the future of high-quality public and private healthcare lies. This is the direction in which the Government is working.”

Mr Gamerdinger announced that a healthcare portal would soon be operational. It will offer general information, a directory of healthcare providers, an online appointment booking module and a special area reserved for healthcare professionals. Another major project will address the hosting of health data in a sovereign cloud with security provided by the State. In two years’ time, each patient should have their own personal digital medical records, which “will simplify the provision of care and offer patients more efficiency.”
