To celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December, the Principality of Monaco, named World Capital of Sport for 2025, chose to shine a spotlight on sport’s power to drive awareness and inclusion.

Since 2023, the Prince’s Government has been promoting practical measures to support inclusion through its “Handipact” policy, overseen by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.

Parasports took centre stage with a programme of dedicated events across the Principality:

  • At a ceremony attended by various prominent figures, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince officially opened “Beyond Limits”, an exhibition of photographs by the artist Romain de Sigalas capturing scenes from international parasports competitions.

Displayed along Larvotto promenade from 3 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, the exhibition aims to raise public awareness about the daily experiences and successes of people with disabilities.

  • The 2025 Handipact Trophy was presented to the Grimaldi Forum in recognition of its inclusion-focused work on the “Colours” exhibition. Guests also heard from Gaël Rivière, paralympic blind football champion and President of France’s parasports federation, the Fédération Française Handisport, who shared insights from his remarkable dual career in law and elite sport.

Guided by the values championed by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, Monaco has once again reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive society for all, encouraging initiatives like the StreetNav app introduced in October, designed to make life more accessible for people with disabilities, whatever their needs.
