Monaco pledges stronger support for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
On 21 November 2025, Ms Isabelle BERRO-AMADEÏ, Monaco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, attended the Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa via video link. The Summit, co-hosted by South Africa and the United Kingdom, marked a pivotal moment in the fight to end AIDS, TB and malaria.
It brought together policymakers, representatives of civil society, multilateral partners, and the private sector, at a time when global health systems face multiple challenges that are threatening the progress made in tackling these three diseases.
The Principality of Monaco confirmed its support by increasing its financial contribution to the Global Fund. The Foreign Minister stressed that health action must be grounded in solidarity: the health security of one country is inseparable from that of its neighbours, and the vulnerability of one nation can affect the stability of all.
Founded in 2002, the Global Fund is an international partnership dedicated to eradicating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, and building a healthier, safer, and fairer world. The Fund mobilises and invests up to US$5 billion annually to fight these diseases, combat discrimination, and strengthen health and community systems in over 100 of the world’s most affected countries.
