Mr Laurent Anselmi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, took part in the 26th  Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), held in Bratislava on 5 and 6 December 2019. The Minister was accompanied by Mr Lorenzo Ravano, First Counsellor at the Embassy of Monaco in Berlin and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the OSCE.

In his speech, Laurent Anselmi congratulated the Slovak Presidency of the OSCE for the efforts made throughout 2019 to address the many challenges facing the Organization.

While reaffirming the Principality of Monaco's commitment to international law and the defence of human rights, Mr Anselmi also stressed the importance of multilateralism in the search for integrated and sustainable solutions in a rapidly changing world.

The Minister also emphasised the importance of generating opportunities for growth and better distribution of wealth, in particular through increased cooperation on energy and environmental issues. He recalled that, under the impetus of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the Prince's Government is involved in many initiatives to raise awareness in Mediterranean countries of the need for good governance of marine ecosystems and the sustainable management of water, fisheries and all the natural resources that are part of our cultures and will be vital for future generations.

Finally, as a side-event of the Ministerial Council, Mr Anselmi met with Mr Thomas Greminger, Secretary General of the OSCE, and signed a financial contribution agreement for 2020-2021 between the Prince's Government and the OSCE for a project to "combat human trafficking along the migration routes in the Mediterranean."
