H.E. Ms Sophie Thevenoux was nominated as Head of the Principality of Monaco’s Mission to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community by Sovereign Ordinance No. 5.282, dated 16 April 2015. She presented her credentials to the President of the European Council, H.E. Mr Donald Tusk, on Thursday 7 May 2015.

The subsequent meeting focused primarily on the negotiations aimed at concluding an Association Agreement between Monaco and the European Union.

The Principality’s fundamentally European nature, as a result of its history, culture and geography, was emphasised, along with the features that make it unique, relating primarily to its territory and population.

President Tusk confirmed that the European Union would take into account the specific features of small states.
