Open day at Agora, Monaco’s diocesan house

From 10 am to 5 pm on 17 November, the Monaco Diocese invites anyone who wishes to do so to visit Agora, the diocesan house and a new cultural location in the Principality.

On the day following the official opening of Agora, all permanent staff will be on hand to showcase the full benefits of a facility like this. There will be a number of events and things to discover for the public throughout the day, with a programme featuring:

  • An exhibition of the best photos by Jean-Pierre Debernardi, who, on behalf of the diocese, photographed all of Monaco’s churches from an often unusual perspective
  • Yvon Bertorello, the artist behind a successful cartoon about Pope Francis, will be on hand to introduce and sign copies of his work
  • At 2.30 pm, the Little Singers of Monaco will offer a preview of several extracts from the pieces that they will perform in Monaco Cathedral on 19 November
  • The Rainier III Academy of Music will also be taking part, presenting several musical performances
  • The Youth Team’s worship group will join in the festivities at 3.30 pm with a small concert in the auditorium for all present
  • Throughout the morning and part of the afternoon, an audiovisual presentation on the giant screen in the auditorium will bring back memories of some key moments in the diocese’s histor

Located at the heart of the Principality above Boulevard Princesse Charlotte, Agora has been designed and constructed to host the entire diocese with ease. It is set to become the family home for a Church which goes forth, reaching out to the men and women of today to proclaim the Gospel.

Some facts and figures about Agora: 1,800 m2 in area – car parks available nearby (Station, Novotel) – 2 public lifts (from Boulevard Princesse Charlotte) – a chapel with seating for 30 – 5 rooms which can accommodate 8–130 people – 9 offices – a library – an archive room – 2 tea rooms – a flat for the manager – 2 guest rooms.
