Apprentice Collectors at the Venice Biennale

The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, in partnership with the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, and with support from SOGEDA, is running its educational programme “Les Apprentis Collectionneurs” (“Apprentice Collectors”) for the fourth year in a row.

After an initial introductory session at Villa Sauber, some of the Apprentice Collectors from private school François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré visited the Venice Biennale to check out the pavilions and other exhibitions. They were accompanied by their teacher, Laurent Papillon, and by Benjamin Laugier, Visitor Manager at NMNM.

The project brings together final-year pupils taking art from Lycée François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré and Lycée Albert I. As in previous years, the aim is for them to visit the artmonte-carlo exhibition and select a series of works that fit with the museum’s collections. Their selection will be presented to a jury of professionals who will then choose one work, or a series of works by the same artist, to join the NMNM collections.
