CORONAVIRUS: two new positive cases identified in Monaco

The Principality's health authorities were informed on Saturday 4 April that the analysis of two samples proved positive for COVID-19.

This therefore brings the number of people infected by coronavirus to 66, including three patients who have now recovered.  The latest patient to have recovered is the Minister of State, Serge Telle, who was diagnosed positive on 16 March 2020.

Eleven people have been hospitalised, two of whom are in intensive care.

In accordance with the principle that has been adopted by the health authorities in the Principality of Monaco, only patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms are being hospitalised.

Those with minor symptoms are invited to self-isolate at home and will be subject to medical monitoring.  A total of 108 patients are currently being monitored outside hospitals.

The Prince's Government also regrets to announce the death of a person who tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalised at the CHPG.  The victim was an octogenarian who was non-resident.  This is the second death linked to the Coronavirus since the start of the epidemic in the Principality.

The Prince's Government wishes to extend its full support to this person's family in these trying times.  This is a moment of great sadness, which demonstrates the importance of continuing to take action and respecting the precautionary health measures set out by the Prince's Government.
