Launch of the Inter-University Diploma (DIU) in Monegasque Law at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University

On Tuesday 18 November, an educational partnership was agreed between the Monegasque Institute for Training in the Legal Professions (IMFPJ), the Université Côte d’Azur and Paris-Panthéon-Assas University to launch an Inter-University Diploma (DIU) in Monegasque Law at Paris-Panthéon-Assas.

The agreement was signed by Mr Samuel Vuelta Simon, the Secretary of Justice, and Mr Stéphane Braconnier, President of Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, in the presence of Professor Yves Strickler, Scientific Director of the IMFPJ, and Ms Delphine Lanzara, policy officer for the Department of Justice. It marks a new stage in the expansion of education about Monegasque law.

Already taught in the law and political science faculties of the Université Côte d'Azur and Université Aix-Marseille, Monegasque law will now be offered at a university in Paris, increasing its influence and the number of people trained in its specific features.

The DIU was established by the IMFPJ in September 2024. It allows students to train in Monegasque law alongside their degree, with 120 hours of instruction in institutional and legal aspects over three years. There are currently 150 students across the first and second years of the programme.

Mr Jean-Philippe Vinci, Director of Education, Youth and Sport, was also present to sign an agreement with the IMFPJ that enables the Department of Education, Youth and Sport to provide valuable logistical support for the training delivered by the Institute. This agreement cements the ties between the Department of Education and the only organisation for legal training in Monaco, currently based at the Palais de Justice.
