The Monegasque Institute for Training in the Legal Professions formally commences its academic year

The Monegasque Institute for Training in the Legal Professions (IMFPJ) formally commenced its academic year on Thursday, 25 January 2024, in the courtroom of the Court of Appeal, chaired by the Secretary of State for Justice and attended by senior representatives of the Prince's Government and the National Council, as well as all the legal professions.
The IMFPJ, which was established almost three years ago, offers preparatory courses for the bar exam and the competitive examination for entering the magistracy while also providing continuing education for the legal professions.
In her speech on 25 January 2024, the Secretary of State for Justice highlighted the recent growth of the training institute and its main achievements in 2023, including the development of a training course for seconded French magistrates and the organisation of a symposium on the fight against money laundering. The significant increase in the number of courses and training sessions for candidates taking the bar exam, which has contributed to the success of two new trainee lawyers, was also discussed. The Secretary of State for Justice also expressed her wish to continue developing the IMPFJ in close collaboration with institutions and to organise public conferences, with a view to increase the influence of Monegasque law.
The scientific director of the training institute went on to unveil the training programme for 2024. Firstly, by outlining the content of the preparatory courses for examinations and competitive examinations stating, they now offer a comprehensive education in Monegasque law, covering both public and private law. The next symposium, to be held on 5 and 6 February 2024, on international cooperation in the fight against money laundering, will bring together a high-level panel of speakers in the large conference room of the Oceanographic Museum. Finally, the scientific director announced the reactivation of the Monegasque Law Review, specific programmes for the legal professions, and training courses on trusts and company law. An annual symposium on major legislative reforms and court rulings will also be held at the end of the year.
