On Monday 17 September, the Monaco Humanitarian Collective* celebrated its 10th anniversary in the presence of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, the Minister of State and high-ranking dignitaries.  The very positive results were presented to the Collective's many volunteers and donors - 384 children, mainly from Africa, were operated on in Monaco for heart problems, as well as some children with orthopaedic diseases that are not treated in their country of origin.

In his introductory speech, the Minister of State, addressing H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, pointed out that "the Monaco Humanitarian Collective is a perfect illustration of what the Principality of what Monaco does best when it takes action under Your aegis, because this is first and foremost an initiative that was established to mark Your fiftieth birthday, and extended for ten years, with Your support.  The Monaco Humanitarian Collective is also an alliance of the driving forces of the Principality, which today is the key to effective action [...]  This initiative is part of the long list of humanitarian commitments by the Principality and Your Highness."

During the ceremony, the many accounts of children who had undergone surgery and their parents, host families and doctors were an illustration of the remarkable work undertaken in Monaco and in partner countries to restore hope and a new life to these 384 children.

The Ambassador of the Monaco Humanitarian Collective, footballer Olivier Giroud, also gave a statement via a video.  He thanked all the volunteers, saying "You are the champions!" and reaffirmed his unwavering support for the MCH.

With regard to future prospects, the Collective affirmed its willingness to help partner countries strengthen their medical care capacity, with, for example, the creation of the first cardiac catheterisation unit in Mali, a project supported by the NGO "Share," with the support of the Prince's Government.

In his closing speech, Mr Philippe Narmino, Vice-President of the Monegasque Red Cross, announced that the next few years will be focused, when possible, on direct care in partner countries, while continuing to receive children in Monaco who are suffering from diseases that require more complex care.
