COVID-19: Prince’s Government sets up a Home Monitoring Centre

In accordance with the principle that has been adopted by the health authorities in the Principality of Monaco, only patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms are being hospitalised.

Those with minor symptoms are asked to self-isolate at home and will be subject to medical monitoring.

The aim of this approach is to avoid overburdening hospitals and to offer treatment for such patients in the city, in a way which is easy and comfortable for them.

To support people with minor symptoms, the Prince’s Government has set up a Home Monitoring Centre. This unit is making direct contact with the patients affected and its role is to ensure that they are comfortable and to respond to requests for medical and logistical assistance. Patients who are being monitored can get in touch with the unit at any time.

The teams are made up of staff from the Department of Health Affairs, doctors, social workers, volunteers from the Monaco Red Cross, medical secretaries from Princess Grace Hospital and psychologists.

The Minister for Health and Social Affairs, Didier Gamerdinger, has met the teams for a review. The Home Monitoring Centre has been operational since 23 March and is currently looking after 47 patients.
