On Thursday 15 March 2018, H.E. the Minister of State visited the Monaco Institute of Sports Medicine and Surgery (IM2S), which specialises in treating osteoarticular conditions. He was accompanied by Minister of Health and Social Affairs Mr Didier Gamerdinger, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, and CEO of IM2S Ms Céline Caron. The visit was led by the Institute’s Director, Gérard Luccio, and Dr Philippe Ballerio.

Following his visit, Serge Telle addressed all of the IM2S representatives present (staff representatives, doctors and administrative staff) to express his gratitude: “The purpose of our visit is also to express our thanks to you on several counts, particularly for your daily contribution to upholding the quality of Monaco’s health care system and the Principality’s appeal in the fields of orthopaedics and sports medicine. The 3,500 operations carried out each year illustrate how busy the Institute is.”

Finally, the Minister of State reiterated the importance of pooling efforts, resources and premises as work begins to integrate the activities and expertise of the Institute into the construction programme for the new hospital: “Bringing together the skills of the Princess Grace Hospital with what has been developed at IM2S over more than 12 years – this is what the framework association agreement recently signed between the Hospital and IM2S is all about. Networking is an essential part of supporting the transition which will take shape with delivery of the new hospital.”
