Award ceremony for Le Temps Presse film festival

The Prince’s Government awarded two prizes as part of the 7th Le Temps Presse festival of short films on the Sustainable Development Goals. The ceremony took place on Thursday 4 January 2018 at the Hotel de Ville in Paris, with numerous personalities in attendance.*

As a partner of Le Temps Presse since the very first festival, the Prince’s Government has a particular involvement with two prizes which help to raise young people’s awareness of major global challenges.

This year, the Children’s Prize provided an opportunity to collect votes from 3,000 pupils at schools in Monaco, France and countries supported by Monaco’s Official Development Assistance authorities. It was Jacob Frey’s animated film The Present, on the theme of disability, which caught the interest of the young audience. The trophy was presented by Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, in the presence of several jury members including two pupils from Collège Charles III.

The Students’ Prize, established by the Department of International Cooperation, was awarded to the short film Kapitalistis by Pablo Munoz-Gomez, which takes a humorous look at the absurdities of our consumer society. The jury for this prize was made up of students from the Sciences Po Paris Menton campus (a partner of the Prince’s Government) and other higher education institutions in France.

Finally, the Women’s Prize, for which H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie has been a member of the jury for several years, was awarded to director Viktor Miletic for his film Bouge pas! (Don’t Move!) about harassment. The Prince Albert II Foundation also took part in the festival as a member of the jury for the Rivers and Oceans Prize.

During the ceremony, the two co-Presidents for 2017, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus and director Wim Wenders, handed over the baton to actress Emmanuelle Seigner, who will preside over the next festival.
