No Time’s Land – a musical comedy 8 and 9 December 2017 – Grimaldi Forum

No Time’s Land, the first musical comedy to bring together 53 teachers and 65 pupils from the Principality of Monaco and the Nice Education Authority, will be presented on 8 and 9 December 2017 at the Grimaldi Forum as part of the CHORE-VOIX project, a practical, multidisciplinary artistic training programme run by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo Education Department and its partners.

For 16 months, the 118 performers in this ensemble have met every week and one weekend per month at the Atelier des Ballets de Monte-Carlo or at their school to experience, together, an incredible human and artistic adventure: the creation of a musical comedy! No Time’s Land was put together as part of the CHORE-VOIX project, a practical artistic training programme for teachers offered by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo that provides instruction in the basics of physicality to enable each individual to express themselves through choreography, theatre and choral singing. It is a programme that teachers can then use with their pupils.

Participants had an opportunity to take workshops and intensive multidisciplinary courses led by professional teachers and artists: Bruno Roque, dancer and choreographer with the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Sandra Monlouis, Choirmaster at CREA, the Aulnay-sous-bois Centre for Vocal and Theatrical Arts, Dominique Dreyfus, dance teacher and manager of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo Education Department, Vanessa Lou-Zouan-Dé, dance teacher for the Nice Education Authority, Bruno Habert, Choirmaster at the Rainier III Academy, Patrick Massabo, departmental music education advisor, Hélène Raynaud, departmental music education advisor for the Nice Education Authority, and Sophie Cossu, director and actor with theatre company Compagnie Les Farfadets. Finally, the ensemble was joined by Patrick Goujon, a writer who works in schools, who put together the libretto for the production, as well as Léa Jade Aumonier and Jovita Negro, young set designers at Monaco Art School – Pavilion Bosio, who created the sets.

This educational project is being implemented jointly by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Monaco’s Department of Education, Youth and Sport, Nice Education Authority, and the Alpes-Maritimes Schools Inspectorate, in partnership with Pavilion Bosio, Monaco Art School, Monaco City Hall, the Rainier III Music Academy, the theatre of Monaco and the town of Beausoleil.
