Blue Ocean Festival

In November 2016, a group of pupils from the Year 12 International Option of the Lycée Albert Ier had the opportunity to take part in an exchange with the Canterbury School of Florida.  Accompanied by their teachers, Ms. Biancheri and Ms. Riley, the pupils from the Principality were welcomed by their American friends, who had visited Monaco in November 2015.

This exchange, which took place under the aegis of the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, was organised in connection with the "Blue Ocean" short film festival, in which the pupils from the Principality participated as members of various juries.

During their stay, the pupils were able to take part in a scientific and cultural project on fauna and flora in the Mediterranean and Oceanic regions, and the degradation of this fauna and flora from pollution and human activities.

In addition to experiencing the American school system, the pupils from the Principality followed a busy programme of activities (exploring the mangroves in a kayak, swimming with manatees and visiting the Dali Museum and the Busch Gardens).

Keen to portray the beauty of this experience, the students from the Year 12 International Option are proposing a permanent exhibition of photos for their friends from the Lycée Albert Ier, with the aim of raising their awareness of protecting the oceans.
