Thanks to the generosity of GEMLUC, which raised the sum of EUR 150,000 at "The Euros of Hope" evening event on 13 October 2016, the Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG) has acquired 3D coelio surgery equipment.  This equipment was presented by Dr. Maurice Chazal on Wednesday 14 December, in the presence of the Director of the CHPG, Mr. Patrick Bini.  This state-of-the-art equipment will make it possible to undertake extremely precise surgical operations using three-dimensional vision.  It will be used in particular for digestive and cancer surgery.  To date, it is the only coelio surgery column on the Côte d'Azur

3D vision in surgery – a notable advance

Three-dimensional vision is used for surgical procedures that require extreme precision and a very good view of the area in question.  It offers more precise positioning, provides detailed vision in relief and allows better hand-eye coordination.  It enables adjacent anatomical structures to be viewed in a more precise manner, and thus protect them as much as possible.

It makes it possible to undertake laparoscopic surgery that is even more precise, rapid and effective.

For the patient, the advantages of this cutting-edge technology are multiple:

  • minimally invasive surgery
  • greater precision of the operating procedure
  • simpler operating theatres
  • reduced operating time
  • ease of operation for the surgeon and therefore safety for the patient
