The Principality Supports the Reinforcement of the Nice-Monaco-Menton Bus Route 100

In terms of mobility, the Prince's Government encourages travel by public transport within the national territory, and also for travelling to the Principality.  This policy is pursued in close cooperation with the French authorities.  As a reminder, therefore, in 2008, the purchase by the State of the TER trains that form part of the regional French railway (SNCF) network has made it possible to offer an improved service to Monaco station at peak times.

Furthermore, in July 2014, the Prince's Government was involved in creating bus Route 101 in partnership with the Departmental Council of the Alpes-Maritimes.  This new route served all the stops of Route 100 between Saint-Laurent d’Eze and Carnoles, passing via Monaco.

An assessment of this route and of Route 100 (Nice-Monaco-Menton) showed that Route 101 was used much less frequently than had been forecasted, and did not enable the service on Route 100 to be improved at peak times.

Further to these results, the Monegasque State, the Departmental Council of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Transdev Alpes-Maritimes company decided to reallocate resources from Route 101 to reinforce Route 100, in order to optimise transport provision for commuters travelling between Nice and Monaco, with the State involvement represented by annual funding of EUR 450,000.  For its part, the Department of the Alpes-Maritimes will be responsible for providing two additional articulated buses, in order to have a homogenous fleet of vehicles.

This new service will include:

Seven additional departures from Nice to Monaco and eight additional departures from Monaco to Nice;

*          a more frequent service at peak times, with departures from Nice every 10 minutes (Nice/Monaco direction) between 6.05 a.m. and 8.25 a.m. from Monday to Friday and a more frequent service departing from Monaco from 4.45 p.m.;

*          extending the timetable by 30 minutes for departures from Nice in the morning, with the first departures at 5.35 a.m. and by 20 minutes for departures from Monaco in the evening, with the last departures at 9 p.m.;

*          the use of 17 large-capacity buses.

Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, stated that, "The Monegasque State, which has helped to created Route 101, has decided to be involved in reinforcing Route 100, which transports a large number of workers every day who have chosen to use public transport to travel to the Principality.  We welcome this partnership with the Departmental Council of the Alpes-Maritimes."
