Partnership with Italy's Official Development Assistance

Following the Agreement signed on 31 March 2015 between the Prince's Government and the Government of the Italian Republic in the field of development cooperation, the Department of International Cooperation travelled to Rome on 23 and 24 March 2016 for an update on this partnership and on co-financed projects.

A delegation from Monaco's Department of International Cooperation [1] was received at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation by H.E. Mr. Giampaolo Cantini, Director General of Development Cooperation. [2].  This meeting was an opportunity to discuss collaboration between Italian and Monegasque Cooperation departments, as well as the main areas of future cooperation with regard to the establishment of the new Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

As side-events of this meeting, meetings were also organised with the entities that benefit from co-financing:

  • The Sapienza University of Rome (Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases), for which Monaco's Official Development Assistance is financing a study on the implementation of a malaria monitoring system in Burkina Faso:
  • The Community of Sant’Egidio, which benefits from financing from Monaco's Official Development Assistance for the period of 2015-2018 for its programme to help combat HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa.

As a reminder, since 2014, the funding allocated by Monaco's Official Development Assistance to projects supported as part of this partnership amounts to more than EUR 900,000.
