Public Aid for Development and International Cooperation
H.S.H. Sovereign Prince Albert II attaches particular importance to the pursuit of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in September 2015.
The international development policy of the Government of Monaco, which has made combatting poverty its priority in this area, each year provides support to more than 130 projects in 12 countries, primarily least developed countries (Madagascar, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mauritania, Senegal et Burundi).
Monegasque aid, allocated via the Department of International Cooperation focuses on three priorities, in accordance with the national policies of the countries concerned: health, education and socio-economic integration.
The most vulnerable populations are the core target of Monaco’s Official Development Assistance. They include children, women, people with disabilities, refugees and so on.
Beyond these priorities, the Department for International Cooperation also takes action in other areas such as food security, civil protection and mine clearance.
Monaco’s Official Development Assistance is engaged in five flagship programmes:
- Fighting against sickle-cell disease
- Supporting vulnerable and street children
- Controlling pandemics (malaria, HIV/AIDS)
- Supporting people with disabilities
- Supporting national civil protection programmes
- Diplomacy and International Presence
- International Organisations
- Monaco and the European Union
- Public Aid for Development and International Cooperation
- Agreements on Tax Matters
- Sustainable Development
- Agreements and Treaties
