Diplomacy – Accreditations – Great Britain - Belarus - Sri Lanka - Sudan

On Tuesday 25 April 2017, at a luncheon held at the Monte Carlo Bay, Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, received H.E. Lord Edward Llewellyn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain; H.E. Mr. Pavel Latushka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus; H.E. Mr. Tilak Ranaviraja, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka and H.E. Mr. Daffa-Alla Elhag Ali Osman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Sudan, who presented their Letters of Credence to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince during the morning.

H.E. Lord Edward Llewellyn was appointed Personal Advisor to the Governor of Hong Kong in 1992, having worked for four years in the Research Department of the Conservative Party. In 1997, he joined the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo, becoming Director in 2005, after spending three years in the Cabinet of the European Commissioner for External Relations. He then successively held the positions of Chief of Staff to the Leader of the Opposition and Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister.

H.E. Mr. Pavel Latushka joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in 1995 and subsequently the Consulate General of Belarus in Poland, as Vice-Consul. In 2000, he was appointed Director of the Information Department/spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry and was promoted to become Ambassador to Poland in 2002. He held the post of Minister of Culture from 2009 to 2012.

H.E. Mr. Tilak Ranaviraja began his career at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and was then appointed Director of the Ministry of Public Administration. In 1983, he joined the MFA as Director General and then joined the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the United States. From 1995 to 2004, he held the post of Permanent Secretary at the Ministries of Media and Communication, Health and Indigenous Medicine, Social Security, Mahaweli and River Basin Development.

H.E. Mr. Daffa-Alla Elhag Ali Osman joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980, where he held various positions. In 1996, he was appointed Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations. In 2001, he was promoted to Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He then successively held the posts of Ambassador to Bangladesh, Pakistan, Jamaica, Cuba and the United Nations in New York. In 2014, he became Director General of the Departments of the Environment, Human Rights and Water Resources at the MFA, and then Director General of the Departments of Bilateral and Regional Relations.
