PRINCE PIERRE OF MONACO FOUNDATION Press Release No. 2

2019 High School Students’ Favourite Choice and Young Music Fans’ Favourite Choice

With a view to involving a young audience in its Prizes, the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation asked two juries comprised of pupils from the Principality to award the High School Students’ Favourite Choice and the Young Music Fans’ Favourite Choice. 

 

The High School Students’ Favourite Choice

                               

Created in 2007 in collaboration with the Department of Education, the High School Students’ Favourite Choice is a literary prize, endowed by the Princess Grace Foundation with an amount of EUR 6,000.

The authors selected:

David Diop for Frère d’âme (Soul Brother*), Editions du Seuil,

Sarah Manigne for L’atelier (The Workshop), Editions Mercure de France,

Hector Mathis for K.O., Editions Roman Buchet Chastel,

Aurélie Razimbaud for Une vie de pierres chaudes (A Life of Hot Stones), Editions Albin Michel, and

Laurent Seyer for Les poteaux étaient carrés (The Posts Were Square), Editions Finitude.

 

The Young Music Fans’ Favourite Choice

 

The Young Music Fans’ Favourite Choice was created in 2011 in collaboration with the Prince Rainier III of Monaco Academy of Music and Theatre and the Department of Education, Youth and Sport. Endowed by the Princess Grace Foundation with a prize of EUR 6,000, it recognises a recent musical work every year.

The shortlisted works:

Missing for violin and orchestra (2017) by Edith Canat de Chizy, - Ed. Salabert

Forgotten City for a large ensemble (2016) by David Hudry - Ed. Musicales Artchipel

Teoton for sheng and orchestra (2015) by Jukka Tiensuu - Ed. Music Finland

Les dentelles de Montmirail for 2 sopranos, choir and ensemble (2017) by Manfred Trojahn – Ed Bärenreiter

 

The Prince Pierre Foundation winners will be announced

on Tuesday 15 October 2019, at 8 p.m., in the Salle Garnier

(admission free subject to the availability of seats)
