H.E. Mr. Michel Roger Visits the ATOMS Premises
On Thursday 16 May 2013, H.E. Mr. Michel Roger, Minister of State, visited the premises of ATOMS, a company specialising in the design and production of man-machine interfaces and complex electro-mechanical systems in the rail transport, aeronautical, military and industrial fields (manipulators/drive/brake pedals, alarm handles, joysticks, encoders, position sensors, tachometer buttons and electronic cards/systems).
He was accompanied by Jean Castellini, Minister of Finance and Economy and Elodie Kheng, Deputy Director of the Business Development Agency.
"ATOMS" is the result of a merger in 1986 between two companies:
• The S.A.M. M.I.C.R.O" (Manufacture Indépendante de Construction Radio) (Independent Radio Construction Manufacture) created in 1936 in Monaco by Mr. Jeanson (Michelin family), which produced electrolytic capacitators.
• The "A.T.O.M.S." (Association Technique Optique Mécanique et Scientifique) (Optical, Mechanical and Scientific Technical Association), created in 1946 by Mr. Bugeaud, a former engineer at LIP Watches, Mr. Caroue, an engineer at the Citroën factories (one of the inventors of the famous "front wheel drive") and Professor Chrétien, inventor of Cinemascope, who manufactured "6x6 Reflex" cameras.
Today, ATOMS is part of the same group as the French company "MCB INDUSTRIE," which is situated in Château-Gontier (53200) and specialises in high-precision passive electrical components.
The ATOMS company, represented by two members of the Board of Directors, Jean-Claude Léo and Vincent Bovis, is established in the Principality of Monaco in industrial premises of 750 m² in the "Le Mercator" building. It employs a staff of 23 (including seven engineers and 13 technicians). In 2011, ATOMS achieved a turnover of 2.9 million euros.
The entire value chain takes place in Monaco (R & D / Product Development / Industrialisation / Production / Prototyping / Marketing and After-Sales Service), apart from some of the manual assembly with lower added value, which is carried out by a subcontracting workshop in Tunisia and systematically checked on the Monegasque site before shipment to the final customers.
ATOMS' main clients are: the SNCF, RATP, ALSTOM, BOMBARDIER, ANSALDOBREDA, CAF, THALES, SAGEM, AIRBUS, EADS, DASSAULT, NEXTER, DCNS, MICHELIN and AREVA.
The Minister of State is thus continuing the series of meetings between the Prince's Government and industries in the Principality, which began several months ago as part of efforts to promote sectors of activity and existing skills in the Monegasque labour pool and encourage new investors and new activities in the Principality.
