France and Monaco reseal their friendship

In 2002 a treaty was signed between the Principality of Monaco and the Republic of France, replacing that of 1918, and bringing the agreement into line with modern realities. This treaty formalised the already existing Franco-Monegasque co-operation committee, established the principal of reciprocity in diplomatic relations and contained assurances that each of the two States would respect the fundamental interests of the other.
