Wednesday 22 May: International Day for Biological Diversity
The United Nations have designated 22 May as the "International Day for Biological Diversity" with the aim of increasing understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. This year, the theme is "Water and Biodiversity," to coincide with the UN's designation of 2013 as International Year of Water Cooperation.
On this special day, the Department of the Environment is joining forces with the Mercantour National Park for two flora and fauna "discovery walks," which will be accompanied by a guide:
"Orchids" departing from Saorge.
"Insects" departing from Sospel (accessible by train).
All you have to do is register on* 04 93 04 73 71 and to enjoy this activity safely and in comfort, take all you need for a walk with complete peace of mind:
- A rucksack with a picnic lunch and some water,
- Sturdy walking shoes,
- Sun cream,
- Binoculars and a camera,
- Warm clothes and a waterproof jacket.
