Until the 30th april 2017

Present Poïpoï, a private collection belonging to Monegasque residents, at Villa Sauber – this was the crazy challenge taken on by the teams at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco! The challenge involved incorporating into the museum’s spaces the artworks which the collectors were surrounded by in their apartment on a daily basis.

Although Poïpoï has a focus on major names in the field of photography – Henri Cartier-Bresson, Hilla and Bernd Becher, Andreas Gursky, Shimabuku, Germaine Krull and Cindy Sherman – visitors to the exhibition will also find pieces by Bertrand Lavier (chair), André Breton (collage), Carsten Holler (elephant) and Paul McCarthy (Pinocchio). The curious and eclectic spirit of the collectors is reflected in the selection of works: their acquisitions have been motivated by a passion for the pieces involved or close links with the artists, rather than a scientific, museum-style approach. Their enlightened perspective can also be seen in their ability to include among the artworks more playful objects, drawing the focus away from their purely aesthetic function.

The exhibition is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm (free entry on Sundays).
