The Principality of Monaco is Honoured in the City of Noto, Italy

On Saturday 20 May, H.E. Mr. Robert Fillon, Ambassador of Monaco to Italy, representing H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, inaugurated the "infiorata di Noto."  The Monegasque delegation, comprised of Mr. Guy Antognelli, Deputy Director of Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority and the artist Richard Seren took part in a variety of cultural events.

Since last year, when H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince was made a citizen of honour, relations of friendship and cooperation have been developed between the Principality and the city of Noto, Sicily, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its architectural qualities.

This year, Noto therefore chose to dedicate its traditional "infiorata" to the Principality of Monaco and make Monaco a guest of honour at the event.

The Noto infiorata is a local festival that celebrates springtime.  During this festival, one of the main streets in the city is decorated with beautiful floral decorations made from cut flowers and created by volunteers.  Each year, there are more than a hundred thousand visitors, with extensive press coverage of the event.

Monaco asked artist Richard Seren to create some original designs as part of the decorations.
